In 2020 I learned animation and video editing on the job. I added animation to our product launches and helped move the corporate podcast, Digital Grocer, to a video format.
From the beginning, I've used my editorial lens and storyboarding skills to emphasize the narrative and key points of our content marketing strategy.
This video played on loop at the Mercatus booth at GroceryTech 2024, showcasing our product innovation and dovetailing with the themes presented in the Mercatus workshop. I storyboarded the video with input from the director of Marketing and Brand, edited and animated it. (Logo Animation Credit: Jared van Bruaene)
This video played on loop at the Mercatus booth at the GroceryTech 2023. I wrote, storyboarded and edited the video on an extremely short timeline. After the event, the video was featured on the Mercatus youtube channel page for nearly a year.
Building off of copy from the product launch, I animated a short video highlighting the benefits and functionality of digital advertising with Mercatus. I customized stock illustration to fit the product and brand, then broke it into components for animation.
To cap off editing season 4 of Digital Grocer, I cut together a sizzle reel of the content thus far. I combed through most of the season and built a narrative out of multiple guests and recording to build anticipation for future recordings.
Watch Season 4 as an example of my longform editing skills.
In its current format, the TopShelf Spotlight is an occasional, middle to top of funnel video discussing product innovation at Mercatus. The host and guest are usually well-prepared Mercatus employees, giving insights on grocery eCommerce. These are a joy to edit.
Mercatus, in collaboration with Brick Meets Click, produces monthly research on grocery retail trends. The report is available to retailer subscribers free of charge, and the video is an ungated summary of the findings. The content is extremely relevant in the industy but dry, and I use my editorial insight to pull themes from the transcript and write title cards to break the discussion into logical segments.
This logo animation is as classy and understated as the Mercatus brand, smoothly sliding in and out.
The title sequence of the podcast sets an energetic tone in keeping with the bold branding of Digital Grocer.
